Sharks and rays have been an irreplaceable resource for coastal communities in the developing world for centuries. But this unique balance is in danger of being lost forever. With our oceans severely degraded, restoring sharks is key to improving the resilience of oceans to climate change.

While not common in Hong Kong waters, the survival of this top marine predator is strongly tied with our city. Hong Kong is the centre of the lucrative shark fin trade, accounting for over 40 per cent of the global shark fin trade every year.
