Christopher Harrocks

Christopher Harrocks was appointed Global Head of Balance Sheet Optimisation, Credit and Capital Management, Corporate and Institutional Banking, in May 2025.  Prior to this role, from October 2021, Christopher was Regional Treasurer, Asia Pacific, where he oversaw all Markets Treasury and Asset, Liability and Capital Management activities in the region.  Christopher relocated to Hong Kong in January 2014, where he oversaw the Sales and Trading businesses across several of HSBC’s Asia Pacific international markets, and was a member of HSBC Asia Pacific Global Markets ExCo.  Before relocating to Hong Kong, Christopher was President and Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bank Peru, prior to which he served in London as HSBC’s Head of Emerging Markets Liquidity Management, EMEA. 
 
Christopher joined HSBC in 1998 as a graduate trainee.  In his more than 27 years at HSBC, Christopher has worked in a variety of roles across Commercial Banking, Global Markets, Treasury and general management.  His 15 years in Global Markets have been across a number of Rates trading and leadership roles.  Christopher has worked in the financial hubs of London, New York, and Hong Kong, and more widely in Colombia, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and the UAE.

Christopher has served as Director of HSBC Bank Mauritius Ltd, as Chairman of HSBC Bank Peru, and also most recently as Director of HSBC Global Services (Hong Kong) Limited.  He is currently Director, HSBC Securities (Japan) Co., Ltd. Christopher is also a trustee of World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong.
