The lack of a comprehensive conservation policy, together with legal loopholes, incompatible land-use planning, and limitations in land-use planning control and enforcement, have placed much land, especially those in rural areas, under the threats of eco-vandalism and illegal development. We have been actively following up on these issues by documenting and surveilling suspected cases of eco-vandalism and illegal development, and reporting these to the authorities. In order to effectively deter offenders, we also strive to advocate for any necessary legislative amendments and effective measures to improve the existing enforcement system, hoping to close the loopholes and inadequacies in the existing legal framework and enforcement mechanism. At the same time, we proactively review development plans and works that may have potential impacts on terrestrial and marine ecosystems, providing opinions and recommendations to relevant departments and stakeholders to prevent biodiversity loss.
