Joining the Big Bird Race 2026 is more than a display of bird-watching skills; it's a vital opportunity to support and protect the Mai Po Nature Reserve, an internationally recognized “Wetland of International Importance” under the Ramsar Convention. This event is the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Hong Kong's longest-standing fundraising event, directly aiding conservation efforts in this biodiversity hotspot.

Mai Po is an important habitat to various bird species, and each participant's involvement and donation help preserve this essential ecological area. The funds raised are dedicated to ecological improvements at Mai Po, preserving this natural heritage for future generations.

Introduced in 2019, the secondary school (Youth) category aims to ignite a passion for nature conservation among youth through practical and theoretical learning. Your support helps expand these educational initiatives, nurturing future environmental stewards.

We invite you to the Big Bird Race 2026, not just for competition but to contribute to the thriving Mai Po wetlands. Participate to enhance your bird-watching skills and help protect Earth's precious ecosystems. Let’s work together for a better future for Mai Po.
